Book Summary
Starting as a collection of tips and suggestions from different artists and authors, The Artist's Way was compiled in a single book and published by Julia Cameron to maximize the creativity and productivity of artists.

The book was originally titled, Healing the Inner Artist, and was rejected by the literary agency William Morris, before being published. Cameron wrote the book and sold Xeroxed copies at a local bookstore. After the book began to sell widely, the title was changed, when the book was published by Jeremy Tarcher (now The Penguin Group) in 1992. The first print was about 9,000 copies. The book reached the list of the 10 best-selling books and the list of the 100 best self-help books of all time. The book was finally placed in the "Desktop Publishing Hall of Fame" after selling millions of copies worldwide.

Cameron maintains throughout the book that creative inspiration comes and has a divine origin and influence, that artists who seek to enable creativity need to understand and believe. "God is an artist. We are too. And we can cooperate with each other. Our dreams and creative desires come from a divine source, not from the human ego."
