Book Summary
It is harvest morning that will kick off the 10th annual Hunger Games. On Capitol Hill, eighteen-year-old Coriolanus Snow prepares for his one shot at glory as a mentor at the Games. The once-powerful house of Snow has been through hard times, its fate hinged on the slim chance that Coriolanus will be able to trick, outsmart, and maneuver his fellow students to guide the winning tribute.

The odds are stacked against you. You have been tasked with the humiliating task of leading the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the lowest. Their destinies are now completely intertwined: every choice Coriolano makes could lead to favor or failure, triumph, or ruin. Inside the arena, it will be a fight to the death. Outside the arena, Coriolanus begins to feel his doomed tribute. . . and you must weigh your need to follow the rules against your desire to survive no matter what it takes.

Book Review
If you read The Hunger Games in one fell swoop, prepare for the long haul one more time, because The Ballad of the Songbirds and the Snakes are almost impossible to put down. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes takes place a decade after the war between the Districts and the Capitol, and even the "winning" side is still trying to rebound. For the 10th anniversary, the Head Gamemaker brings students from the Academy to act as mentors to each of the tributes, and one of these students is Coriolanus Snow, 18, President Snow, when we met him in The Hunger Games. Snow is assigned the District 12 girl tribute, a loser to be sure, but Lucy Gray Baird is his own flavor of Katniss, very different in style and personality, but no less compelling. You want her to be successful. And I felt the same for Snow, who, while still arrogant and entitled, finds himself questioning the purpose of the Games and the treatment of tributes. There is so much I want to tell you about this novel, but I really want you to experience it all for yourself because The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is incredibly exciting, thought-provoking, and relevant. Now hurry up and read it because I'm dying to talk to someone about this book.
