Brandon Grotesque Font is a sans-serif typeface designed by Hannes von Döhren of HVD Fonts in 2009 and 2010. Igino Marini of iKern did spacing and kerning. The typeface includes Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Bold, and Black weights. Italicized versions were also made available for each weight.
The typeface can be classified as a geometric sans-serif, heavily inspired by typefaces of the same classification during the 1920s and 1930s. It was designed to appear elegant with a low x-height, a less common feature of sans-serif fonts. In 2014, von Döhren released Brandon Text, a tighter version intended for body text.
Brandon Grotesque Font Uses
From 2010 to 2018, it was the corporate font for Comedy Central, used in promotional materials, badges, and posters, such as for their Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear event, alongside the Eames Century Modern font until a custom typeface replaced it. Comedy Sans.
Brandon Grotesque was selected as the wordmark typeface for the revised Brandon University logo.
In 2017, a custom version of Brandon Text, Bogle, was created for Walmart. Bogle adds extra rounding to Brandon Text characters and Walmart Spark logo elements to Brandon Text. The font was named Bogle after Bob Bogle, Sam Walton’s assistant who coined the name Walmart.

After downloading a font, let’s say Freight Sans font. It came in a zip format. Just double-click on the file and it will unzip immediately. The fonts basically come with .ttf (TrueType Font) or.OTF (OpenType Font) format.
