It has a large X-height and provides the best results for advanced digital systems.

Century Gothic ™ is based on Monotype 20th Century, which was drawn by Sol Hess between 1936 and 1947. Century Gothic maintains the basic 20th Century design but has an enlarged X-height and has been modified to ensure satisfactory output from digital systems modern. The design is influenced by the geometric style sans serif faces that were popular during the 1920s and 1930s. The Century Gothic font family is useful for headlines and display work in general and for small amounts of text, particularly in advertising.

The Century Gothic family has been expanded to 14 pesos in a pan-European character set from Thin to Black and its italics. The existing 4 weights of Regular and Bold with their italics are also available in the STD character set.
