GT Walsheim Font is based on and inspired by the lettering on the posters of Otto Baumberger (1889-1961). He was a Swiss painter, set designer, lithographer, and poster artist who created more than 200 posters during his career.
Baumberger, one of the most important Swiss poster designers of the first half of the 20th century, created these works before they were called design: he was a poster artist. His work exemplifies the movement from pictorial to abstract designs during this time – the Swiss style even before that term existed.
